The Houthis in Yemen have launched five military operations within 72 hours, their spokesman Yahya Sareya said recently.

Mr Sareya said the Houthis had attacked a British merchant ship called the Island of Hope in the Red Sea, an Israeli cargo ship called MSC GINA in the Arabian Sea and MSC GRACE F in the Indian Ocean.

The three vessels were all container ships, with the MSC GINA and MSC GRACE F managed and operated by shipping company Mediterranean Shipping MSC, according to shipping data.

Mr. Sareya said the Houthis attacked the three commercial ships with multiple ballistic and cruise missiles. He did not say when the attack would take place.

In addition, Sareia also stressed that the Houthis have attacked a number of US warships cruising in the Red Sea.

In response, the UK Maritime Trade Office (UKMTO) issued a series of reports on ship attacks on April 6 and 7.

The UKMTO reported an attack on a commercial ship 60 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah, Yemen, on Saturday. The captain reported that two missiles were spotted near the ship. The first was intercepted by coalition forces and the second hit the water some distance from the ship.

The UKMTO reported an attack on a merchant ship 59 nautical miles southwest of Aden, Yemen, on July 7. with the captain reporting that a missile had hit the waters near the stern.

Earlier, the Houthis in Yemen said they would not only stop "Israeli-linked" ships from passing through the Arabian Sea, Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, but also stop them from sailing through the Indian Ocean to the Horn of Good Hope in Africa.
