Do the friend of import and export trade, when entrust freight forwarder to go by sea, often can hear these nouns: cut off customs, cut off sheet, cut off port, customs clearance, customs declaration, customs clearance and customs clearance, that is, freight forwarder often said "three cut off four customs". But some friends may be very "face blind" to these nouns, and do not know how to distinguish them in practice.


Cut off


The Closing time, also known as the closing time, refers to the time of receiving the declaration and release information. The goods must be declared and released before this time, and then the customs release form shall be submitted to the shipping company. If the customs release slip is submitted after this time, the shipping company will not allow the goods to be boarded as they have not been declared and released by the customs.

Interception of port


"Port" refers to the dock yard of the port, so port cut-off refers to the closing time of container collection at the port. Before this time, loaded containers can enter the dock or warehouse, after this time can not enter the dock again. Sometimes called a cutoff cabinet, it is indicated as CY cutoff or CY closing.


Cut off order


"Bill" refers to the bill of lading, and the cut-off bill refers to the latest time for the shipper to submit the materials required for making the bill of lading to the shipping company, which is the last time for the shipping company to change the format of the bill of lading. If the information of the bill of lading is found to be wrong after this time, although the goods will not be allowed to board the ship, it is necessary to pay certain amendment fees to the shipping company.


"Three cuts" time point:


Cut-off time: generally 1 ~ 2 days before the ship departs (5-7 days in advance for bulk cargo), and generally 0.5 to 1 working day after the cut-off time.


Cut-off time: each shipping company is different, some are sailing day, some are within a week after sailing.


Port cut-off time: generally 1 ~ 2 days before the ship's ETD. (5-7 days in advance for bulk)


After saying "three cut", then say "four customs", that is, customs declaration, customs clearance, customs clearance.


Declaration of customs


Customs declaration refers to the process of declaring the relevant information of the goods to the customs.


In the transportation of import and export goods, customs declaration is a statutory obligation and a prerequisite for the smooth import and export of goods. The purpose of customs declaration is to provide the customs with accurate and complete information about the goods, including the type, quantity, value, origin, consignees and consignors of the goods and so on. The customs reviews the goods based on the declaration information to ensure that the goods comply with the relevant laws and regulations, and levies the corresponding taxes and fees on the goods. There are two ways for the exporter to declare the customs by himself and the exporter to entrust a freight agent or a customs broker to declare the customs.


Clearance of customs


Customs clearance refers to the process in which goods pass customs inspection, are allowed to leave the area under customs jurisdiction, and are handed over to importers and exporters or logistics companies for further processing. (In general, the customs procedures for exports are called declaration, and the customs procedures for imports are called clearance)


The purpose of customs clearance is to ensure that the goods can be successfully delivered to the final consignees after being examined by the customs. At this time, the importer and exporter can obtain the corresponding customs clearance documents, such as the bill of lading or bill of lading for the goods, to prove the legality and ownership of the goods.


Clearance of customs


Customs clearance is a procedure after customs release. The relevant information of the release and the information of the goods on board are submitted to the customs for filing and subsequent export tax rebate (foreign exchange verification and cancellation). Customs clearance also represents that the customs procedures of this batch of import and export goods have been completed, the customs granted formal release, and no longer supervise the goods.

Generally, the customs will clear the goods within 5 working days after the goods are exported.


Clearance of customs


Customs clearance is the general name of a series of actions of customs clearance and customs clearance, it is to point to the import and export of goods and transshipment of goods, into and out of the customs of a country or the customs procedures that must be handled.
