3. What is the difference between AMS and ISF?
AMS is mainly to declare the information inside the bill of lading, while ISF is to supplement the information declared by AMS, and complete the new 10+2 items of information without changing the AMS rules. For AMS declaration, freight forwarders usually collect cargo information in advance, while for ISF declaration, information must be collected before booking. The freight forwarder can help declare, but it must provide the correct and complete information in advance. If the information needs to be modified after submission, there will be a modification fee. If the data is not submitted in time, or there is a misunderstanding resulting in a change fee, resulting in customs clearance delay or even a fine. AMS/ISF late or missed delivery will incur a $5.000 penalty, which can be waived by appealing.
