New Delhi, July 27 (AFP) - India banned 47 more Chinese mobile apps just a few weeks after 59 Chinese mobile apps were banned because of concerns about so-called national security and privacy issues, an official with the Ministry of information technology said Monday (27 local time).

"The order was issued on Friday (24th)," the official, who declined to be named, said. Most of the 47 apps are banned for the same reasons as 59 previously banned, many of which are simplified or variant versions of previously banned apps. "

The report pointed out that the Indian government has not issued an official statement or order on the ban, but the main Indian media have carried out extensive reports on it.

According to an article published by the economist on July 4, Indian Prime Minister modi has been under political pressure to fight back at China after the border conflict between China and India. Given that many of the banned Chinese apps have a huge following in India, few of these Chinese products have escaped the Indian government's actions. However, India's inability to respond highlights the fact that India is in a very difficult situation, the article said.

The article points out that, militarily, India is facing a fait accompli. China's new position gives its army a strategic advantage, and it is difficult for the Indian army to fight back. This prompted India to try to hurt China in other ways. Several popular apps have been banned, but that doesn't matter in an economy that's nearly five times the size of India.

The article quotes Jabin Jacobin of India's Shiv Nadal University as saying that a better interpretation of the ban is that it is a part of a more strategic response to China's growing influence. Other factors that have stimulated India include the sustained trade deficit with China of about $50 billion, and the progress of China's diplomacy in neighboring small countries that India regards as a dependent country.
